Introduction to Anthropology
Anthropologyとは何か？うまく説明できる人はどのくらいいるでしょうか？かなり広い領域をカバーする用語で、日本語では、人類学とか人間学とか訳されて専門分野の人がいます。私にはいまだによく分かっていません。この際、私見を述べておきます。
Merriam-Westerのオンライン辞書では、次のように説明されています。簡単に言うと、「人類（人間）の科学」で、少し詳しく言うと、歴史と空間に通じる先祖なども含み、物理的な特徴、環境的社会的関係性、文化と関連した人類（人間）の研究としています。

起源について次のように補足しています。近年アメリカ合衆国で発展したそうです。
The word anthropology dates back to the late 16th century, but it was not until the 19th century that it was applied to the academic discipline that now bears its name. In the United States, this field of study is typically divided into four distinct branches: physical (or biological) anthropology, archaeology, cultural (or social) anthropology, and linguistic anthropology.
私が関わるのは、後半の二つ、cultural (or social) anthropology, とlinguistic anthropologyのようです。しかし、かなり細分化されてきているような印象を持ちます。もともと、human beingsを扱うわけですから当たり前でしょう。
Ethnographyについて言及してきました。この日記はその一つの活動です。辞書的な説明は、the study and systematic recording of human cultures also : a descriptive work produced from such researchとなっていて、人間を対象としていますが、その記録の仕方に関わるのがethnographyのようです。それでも明確に区別するのはむずかしいようです。
私の現在の探求の興味は、CLILという教師や活動です。私自身がCLILという教育を実践しているものとして、この日記を書いています。anthropologyと言えばそうです。ethnographyと言えばそうです。あるいは、phenomenologyと言えばそうです、と答えます。このような探求は、CLILという分野の発展にもつながり、自分個人の探究にもつながります。行き着く先がどこかは知りませんが、あと何年になるかわかりませんが、死ぬまで続けるでしょう。
